We Are All Unique!
This week we learned about accepting differences. We learned that we are all unique and that this is something to celebrate! We watched an inspiring Ted Talk about a special friendship. If you want to watch it here is the link:

We created a piece of artwork that will become part of a Tuscany School quilt! To show our uniqueness we drew self-portraits. Then we researched the art of George Littlechild. We did our self-portraits in his style. George Littlechild is an Albertan Change Maker and well known indigenous artist who creates many portraits of ancestors to share stories of injustice. We studied his biography to learn how artists can share important messages through their artwork.
In math, we practiced long division with remainders. Ask me to show you the steps!
In Language Arts, we learned 5 types of poems: Haiku, Free Verse, Rhyming Couplet, Diamante and Concrete. We will be refining and revising these next week for our contribution to the Winter Celebration.
Lastly, we listened and responded to 4 more chapters of Island of the Blue Dolphins. Karana and Rontu hunted the Devil Fish (Octopus). We practiced explaining, describing and summarizing parts of the story to develop our comprehension skills.
