Week of Apr. 19 - 23

This week we made scientific observations of our seedings. We noted the germination rate and measured them. In science we learned about variables. In our TomatoSphere experiment we learned that we have to control all the variables such as light, water, soil and temperature and have only one independent variable - seeds that went to space and seeds that are earth seeds.  Most of our seeds have germinated now!

We have planted other seeds and will be planting even more to observe the lifecycle of plants.

We were also very excited to meet Mr. Mo our dance instructor from Sound Kreations who is teaching us the moves for a Hip Hop dance.  We have learned a little about the development of Hip Hop as a dance art form and watched some amazing videos of dancers who can do incredible moves.

This week we continued to research about Albertan Changemakers in history and on a topic of choice for Genius Hour.  We practiced defining 3D solids by their attributes in math and learned about deforestation in connection with Earth Day.  We made a commitment to contribute to an ongoing school yard clean-up at Tuscany. And we created some artwork in chalk pastel.

Reminders:

Our Coulee walk has been re-scheduled to May 4.
