Week of Apr. 6 - 9

This week we showed Elder Saa'kokoto our Gratitude videos. We met with the Elder online in Google meet to give our thanks for our experiences with him at Tuscany School. Visit the Google classroom stream to view our videos!

We also saw the online production created by Calgary Opera, Hansel and Gretel. We compared it to the traditional version of the fairytale.  This version was set in modern day Calgary. Hansel was played by a female opera singer.  They were still poor and hungry. The children got lost and lured in by a witch who owned a food truck of delicious cupcakes and other treats.  Hansel and Gretel had to be clever to outsmart the witch.  The singers were very talented and sang with a lot of emotional expression!

In social studies, we started research on a notable Albertan from the past.  We will create trading cards with our biographies. In math we had a check-in for telling time and writing dates in metric notation. In science we found out about TomatoSphere. We will be planting tomato seeds that have been up to space in the International Space Station! We learned what tomato plants need so we can take good care of our seedlings. In science we also did a Rube Goldberg experiment to see how mass affects speed and kinetic energy.
