Week of May 31 - June 4

We had a great walk to the Coulee at the beginning of the week. We played games like the Who Am I? game and the Food Chain game to learn about Coulee ecosystems. We heard the story of Wolf Island to learn about how each species in the ecosystem is important to keep the whole system in balance. We also had a mindful moment and brainstormed ideas for a reader's theatre that we will be creating back at school.  Ms. White came on our walk too!

We have started sharing our Genius Hour presentations for the second round. We really have some interesting topics!

We are also very engaged in our Albertan Identity projects:

We tuned into to three online sessions offered through the City of Calgary for the Mayor's Environment Expo.  The topic this year was Climate Change.  We heard about Simon Jackson's fight to develop awareness to save the Spirit Bear in B.C. We also learned how to use eBird and Merlin Bird ID to submit bird sightings as a citizen scientist. We also learned about growing plants with Hydroponics as an option to develop Food Security in the future.

This week we showed our school spirit by taking on the care of the flower beds. We weeded our box. We also did our part to clean up the playground by picking up garbage.

Finally, we also had a google meet with Mr. Rakowski to help with our transition to TMC. He was very funny and patient to answer our many questions!
